Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy is a type of nerve damage that causes loss of feeling in the feet, making patients prone to cuts and scrapes. Many injuries go unnoticed which can lead to infections spreading and, in extreme cases, amputation and death. People with neuropathy need to check their feet every day for cuts and scrapes to prevent them from turning into ulcers.
Sole Armor has designed a durable breathable sock made from a special blend of materials that is comfortable while also providing protection. The top of the sock would be made of traditional cotton while the bottom, sides, and heel would consist of durable, waterproof materials. The sock would be an alternative to consistently wearing shoes, which causes swelling, and allows those with neuropathy to participate in everyday activities without the fear of developing ulcers.
Our mission is to provide a comfortable, durable and breathable sock to aid in preventing and reducing unnoticed scrapes and cuts that lead into diabetic ulcers.

According to the Center for Disease Control's 2017 National Diabetes Statistics Report, there were 30.2 million cases of diabetes, diagnosed and undiagnosed, in the United States in 2015.
Between twelve to fourteen million people diagnosed with diabetes suffer from Diabetic Neuropathy.
Approximately, 1.5 million Americans are newly diagnosed with diabetes each year.
Diabetes is among the 7th leading cause of death in Americans.

Sole Armor was an idea produced from the innovative minds of students from the University of Mount Union at the Entrepreneurship Education Consortium.
